The NOREC Preparatory Training held in Kathmandu, was a six-day immersive experience that left participants feeling enthusiastic and energized. Attendees are from various countries, including Norway, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, India, Nepal and Switzerland.
Six employees from Zabai Norway and Zabai Bangladesh have participated in NOREC exchange preparatory training program 2023 and gained knowledge about the importance of sustainable development, global understanding and intercultural communication. Most importantly, understanding NOREC model to achieve the goal for the project to develop a digital solution for young people in Bangladesh was an integral part of the training.
Children and youth living in communities with an extremely low level of IT infrastructure and users with low digital literacy; and NOREC project is leading towards mitigating these obstacles. This initiative is motivated by exploring the needs in rural areas in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Ethiopia. During the exchange, Our IT experts from Bangladesh will collaborate with the Norway team and pedagogues & experienced personnel from Norway have already started collaborating with the Bangladesh team to achieve the goal of NOREC project.
The training was in the heart of Kathmandu, a bustling city filled with vibrant colors, architecture, sounds, and smells. Participants were initially taken aback by the cultural shock, but soon they found themselves embracing the unique culture and customs of Nepal.
The training included group activities that encouraged participants to collaborate, communicate and understand each other’s cultural background before they were sent to their host countries, as a part of the physical exchange. The games and activities provided us a mind-blowing experience to see how different cultures can shape an individual's personality and how one approaches situations differently. Through open dialogue, they were able to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures, and how their backgrounds shaped their values and beliefs.
The NOREC exchange program would have given Zabai, an opportunity to develop its human resources, improve cross-culture collaboration and communication, and create a global network of contacts. The NOREC project goal is very much the same as the business goals of Zabai. So these benefits would have helped Zabai to better achieve its business goals as well as make significant impact on sustainable goals. This project will continue for three years, till the end of 2025.
